The Head of Valuation will supervise valuations of actuarial reserves and liabilities for annuity and life products. In addition, this role is accountable for asset adequacy testing, and asset and liability modeling used in a variety of firm-wide initiatives. The Vice President is responsible for building relationships with finance, internal audit, information technology, and investments. This role will be leading and improving valuation processes while managing a team of over 20 professionals.

The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the actuarial financial reporting processes across all insurance related products and legal entities for Statutory, Tax, and IFRS accounting bases.

What you will do

  • Appointed actuary responsibilities for Empowers U.S. insurance segments.

  • Thorough understanding of methodologies and procedures in the actuarial financial reporting process, with the ability to modify/modernize as needed.

  • Lead a team of valuation actuaries and analysts, ensuring accurate and compliant valuation of their product portfolios.

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reporting of actuarial accounting elements.

  • Provide thought leadership in analyzing and anticipating changes to Stat, Tax, and IFRS laws, regulations, and guidelines. Remain current on all changes regarding financial reporting and regulatory changes.

  • Further develop and maintain actuarial financial models for business planning, cash flow testing, and other projection needs

  • Assist in the assumption setting process.

  • Monitor new product development and ensure financial reporting processes are properly adjusted to support new products.

  • Proactively manage and mentor actuarial team, providing leadership and professional guidance to maintain and enhance actuarial engagement and career development.

What you will bring

  • Must be an FSA, MAAA, with 15+ years of experience, primarily in financial reporting

  • Previous leadership experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Previous experience with insurance products within retirement plans preferred

  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Base Salary Range

$176,200.00 - $255,475.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
