An exciting opportunity to be a member of the Finance & Accounting with responsibility for accounting, tax and financial reporting within the Empower. Responsibilities include formulating balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements that are subject to independent audit for the consolidated Company and its subsidiaries, and related supporting documents (financial statement tie-outs) and certain functions related to the month-end close process, including account reconciliations. In addition, responsibilities also include monthly reporting, reporting to regulatory bodies (foreign and domestic) and monitoring minimum regulatory capital requirements for certain subsidiaries. The senior analyst will also assist accounting on a monthly basis to prepare internal management reporting packages, including the supporting documents. Additionally, the role will assist with booking various monthly entries including cash and prepaids. The role includes interaction with other members of Corporate Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tax. Legal and Compliance, and Operations. In addition, the role will assist the Managers and Controller in various projects received from the CFO and the business units. This is a detailoriented position with stringent time deadlines, where time management, the ability to prioritize and multi-task is essential.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation of financial statements and various other analyses for the Company and Subsidiaries on a monthly and quarterly basis to be reported to the Parent and other Shareholders in a timely fashion. On an annual basis these statements are subject to audit. For the various subsidiaries that require it, calculation and reporting of net capital to certain regulatory bodies and filing of Bureau of Economic Analysis surveys.
Preparing monthly internal management reporting packages highlighting results.
Maintain supporting documentation and work papers for accounting, tax, and financial reporting deliverables. Such support includes workbooks, invoices, other relevant documents.
Complete work associated with the month-end close process. Ensure that all items are entered into SAP in a timely fashion. Review for any unusual fluctuations and investigate and explain these fluctuations and perform account reconciliations.
Provide assistance with any special projects (including tax), information requests, external year-end and interim audits requests that are received by the business units, and CFO.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE TYPICALLY REQUIRED:
2-4 years ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Strong technical skills (i.e., Excel, SAP)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and the ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.
Technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP and IFRS), ability to determine appropriate accounting treatment of new transaction types; financial services industry experience a plus.
Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, as well as being proactive with responsibilities and issues.
Strong organizational and project management skills. Must be a self-starter and eager to learn new tasks. A sense of urgency is a must. · Strong work ethic, must be a team player, and willing to help with any type of task as needed.
