The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as a critical link between business stakeholders and technical teams. This role is responsible for translating business needs into detailed, testable technical requirements for both user interface (UI) and API development work.

In addition to core business analysis responsibilities, this position performs hands-on quality assurance activities, including test case creation, execution, defect documentation, and validation of system functionality. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, excels at clarifying ambiguity, and ensures that delivered solutions align precisely with documented requirements.

This role operates in a collaborative Agile environment and partners closely with product owners, developers, and QA to ensure successful delivery of high-quality software solutions.

What You Will Do

• Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements
• Translate business needs into clear, structured user stories with detailed acceptance criteria
• Create clear and succinct technical requirements for:
  • User Interface (UI) components, workflows, validations, and user interactions
  • API functionality, including request/response structures, data mappings, business rules, and integration requirements
• Develop process flows, use cases, data mappings, and system documentation to support development efforts
• Ensure requirements are complete, testable, and traceable through the development lifecycle
• Facilitate story grooming with engineers and QAs
• Review completed work to confirm alignment with documented requirements
• Collaborate with QA to develop test strategies, test plans, and detailed test cases based on documented requirements
• As needed, execute functional, integration, and regression testing
• Validate UI behavior, data flows, and API responses against defined specifications
• Perform data validation and basic query analysis using SQL to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by preparing test scenarios and assisting business users

What You Will Bring

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or in a hybrid BA/QA role
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications for both UI and API development
• Hands-on experience writing and executing test cases
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, data flows, and system integrations
• Working knowledge of SQL and ability to validate and analyze data
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and requirements documentation tools
• Strong analytical, documentation, and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

What Will Set You Apart

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
• Experience in financial services or other regulated environments
• Comfort working closely with developers while maintaining an independent validation perspective
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams
• A proactive approach to identifying requirement gaps and edge cases
