The Senior Analyst Capital Management Accounting will serve as a subject matter expert in data, systems and processes and their associated impacts to capital reporting and analysis. This role will drive consolidation for all quarterly reporting, forecast cycles, budgets, and associated internal management reporting and analytics.  In addition, it will be responsible for completing the reporting and analytics associated with the quarterly financial reporting close process and providing clear and concise explanations of variances.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Subject matter expert for risk-based capital (RBC and Capital Generation) within Empower’s Controller Group.

  • Build and maintains reporting, analytics and forecasting models for statutory results to leverage in risk-based capital (RBC and Capital Generation) modeling, regulatory reporting and tax modeling.

  • Prepare quarterly report of risk-based capital (RBC) and organic capital generation forecasts for global and local reporting.

  • Continuously update modeling to reflect changes in our business and areas of LifeCo capital management emphasis.

  • Continuously monitors changes in business processes due to significant transactions and ensures we update our SAP use model accordingly.

  • Partner with other teams (e.g. Investment Accounting, Empower Accounting, FP&A, and Actuarial) to analyze how transactions in their functions contribute to changes in RBC and IFRS results

  • Partner with other teams within Finance and the business to develop solutions to business challenges and initiatives, including reinsurance counterparty and shared services initiatives.

  • Partner closely with corporate and business partners to drive enhancements in the forecasting and analysis processes to reduce the time required to complete forecasts while improving the accuracy.

  • Drive consistency in reporting and analytics across teams

  • Identify source data needs and solutions to be utilized in statutory and IFRS forecasting and reporting.

  • Analyze key business earnings drivers, including asset-based fees, billed revenue, net interest margin, expense drivers and taxes.

  • Serves as subject matter expert for SAP. Works with end users to build and maintain automated solutions for manual processes within the Insurance Accounting team.

  • Understands SAP reporting structure and use model and assists with generation of reports to support daily operations

  • Complete and prioritize significant ad hoc requests from various corporate and business partners.

  • Support Empower’s quarterly financial close activities.

  • Supports Empower’s Insurance and Reinsurance Accounting teams with data validation and other close related functions if needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Public Accounting experience preferred.

  • Ability to independently analyze data, problem solve solutions, and present options.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail required.

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills required; advanced Excel skills required.

  • Ability to work independently with all levels of management.

  • Experience with analytical software preferred.
