The Sr. Director Actuary leads a team performing various actuarial functions, including actuarial modeling efforts supporting financial reporting, asset-liability management and other initiatives, assumption development and underlying experience studies, as well as other analyses related to US regulatory reporting requirements. This position requires extensive experience working with MG-ALFA and AXIS actuarial models, including model development and validation expertise.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages a team of actuarial professionals that builds, maintains and runs complex actuarial models and assists in data compilation and analysis used in experience studies.  Ensures the quality and timeliness of all deliverables.
  • Partners closely with Corporate Actuarial leaders to ensure alignment in the with future state organizational structure.
  • Drive further development and implementation of models which are efficient and simplistic while incorporating the depth of functionality needed to appropriately model our product offerings.
  • Ensures compliance with department policies, actuarial standards and applicable regulations.
  • Executes key management internal controls and assists with related audits.
  • Performs financial analyses and reports results in support of internal management reporting and external financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Drives and supports cross-training efforts to develop skills of all team members across all actuarial model platforms (i.e. primarily Axis and MG-Alfa), experience studies, etc.
  • Effectively lead and manage the team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives, providing regular feedback, coaching, and mentorship to team members to support their professional growth and development. 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math/statistics or equivalent is required.
  • FSA preferred
  • ASA and MAAA designation or equivalent in India required.
  • 15+ years of financial services experience
  • Experience of working on risk/financial/actuarial Modeling using MG-ALFA and AXIS
  • Strong leadership experience and industry presence to further develop the team to future state
  • Has extensive knowledge of actuarial modeling and assumptions development and transferring skills to new projects.
  • Working knowledge of internal controls and model documentation
  • Can research and design solutions for actuarial model issues.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and knowledge of data management/analysis tools such as Alteryx .
  • Strong executive presence, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to present complex results and analysis to department leaders.
  • Identifies and participates in implementing improvements to products or processes; demonstrates strong work ethic and personal accountability
  • Builds collaborative and cooperative relationships; balances customer needs with the best interests of the company; effectively manages conflict.
  • Adjusts to changing events and priorities; displays a positive approach; focuses energy on determining possibilities.
  • Makes decisions within guidelines and policies that impact priorities and allocation of time to meet deadlines.
  • Manages costs (time) related to work.
