As a member of the Compliance Operations team, the Sr Data Foundry Engineer is responsible for building and scaling user-facing data applications (workshop/custom widgets) on top of a modern data platform to support the digitization and automation of the Compliance Organization. This role will also aspects of AI strategy, design, and integration where applicable to design an industry leading Compliance Organization. This engineer role owns the full lifecycle from external data ingestion through transformation and ontology design to end-user Compliance applications.
The Sr Foundry Engineer works closely with business stakeholders to translate real-world workflows into intuitive, production-grade applications within Foundry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Build Data Applications
- Design and develop custom Workshop applications and widgets in Foundry
- Translate business workflows into interactive, user-facing tools
- Build lightweight frontend logic (Workshop or React where applicable)
- Optimize applications for real operational usage (not just dashboards)
Engineer Reliable Data Foundations
- Build and maintain API-driven data ingestion pipelines
- Implement production-grade ingestion patterns:
- Authentication (OAuth, API keys, headers)
- Pagination, batching, and rate limiting
- Retry logic and failure handling
- Incremental loads and deduplication
- Develop scalable pipelines using Python and SQL in Foundry
Model & Structure Data for Applications
- Design and extend Foundry Ontology
- Build reusable, well-structured datasets for application use
- Align data models with application logic and user workflows
Own End-to-End Delivery
- Partner with stakeholders to define requirements
- Deliver complete solutions from data ingestion to application layer
- Troubleshoot issues across ingestion, transformation, and application layers
Improve Platform Standards
- Establish best practices for:
- Data quality and validation
- Monitoring and observability
- Reusable ingestion and modeling patterns
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- 2- 4 year college degree or equivalent experience
- 4–8+ years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or similar roles
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience building production-grade data pipelines
- Experience integrating external APIs and third-party data sources
- Experience building user-facing data tools, applications, or dashboards
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in ambiguous environments
Preferred
- Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry (Code Repos, Transforms, Ontology, Workshop)
- Experience building Workshop applications or similar data-driven tools
- Experience bridging data engineering and frontend/application layers
- Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Airflow, dbt, or similar tools
- Experience in financial services, compliance, or regulated environments
