Senior Developer Marketing Front End

Job Description


The Sr Front-End Mktg Developer for Web Support is responsible for maintenance of all currently deployed microsites, pre-login pages, landing pages, websites, and other digital/online properties. In addition to the support work, this role will also help develop and deploy new digital projects (based on template guidelines and provided web structure). The Developer will both help with planning and execution of all larger scale web support and development tasks.

Working with the Digital Marketing Operations team and Digital Traffic Manager, this individual will triage, deploy live all web maintenance and new development tickets through the Agency ticketing system. The role supports multiple brands including (Great-West Financial, Empower, Empower Institutional), and multiple digital properties both internal and external.

The Developer will work closely with digital requesters to answer questions, address issues, and support new/existing digital needs. A high level of professional service support is needed via phone, Webex, Teams, email communications, and updates in tickets, to ensure projects meet the requirements. This role also needs to effectively communicate and update marketing team members as well as other internal groups of the status and timelines of digital web/maintenance projects

The Developer will work with a QA or internal Digital Maintenance team member to ensure that all digital services meet company accessibility standards and are fully responsive. The role will require consistent QA of their own code and finished work.

The role will also support high level design needs with the requirement to optimize web images, creation of hi-res mockups, and full-functional prototypes.

As the organization migrates select sites into the Drupal Content Management System, knowledge and experience with Drupal 8 is highly desired to support future Drupal efforts including template development, administration, and publication of digital content).

The Sr Front-End Developer for Web Support must be a team player, self-sufficient and a multi-tasker. Must be able to troubleshoot issues and fix issues with no supervision. The individual must be comfortable in a very fast-paced environment with the ability to quickly shift gears and address rush requests as needed as part of the normal course of a day. This role must show enthusiasm to stay up to date on new technologies and integrate them into projects effectively.

Must demonstrate a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work with Systems developers and QA teams to be as effective as possible. Act as a mentor and support junior level Digital Marketing Operations (DMO) developers.

The Sr Front-End Developer for Web Support will also be expected to give productive feedback on process improvements as it relates to both the ticketing workflows and internal dev/production tools to make web production/maintenance more effective.

Essential Functions:

  • Development and/or support for all DMO responsible projects, systems, and websites.
  • Respond to or route incoming DMO inquiries to the appropriate teams/departments.
  • Work directly with Requesters and in the ticketing system to triage, assign, and work on the daily flow of web support tickets.
  • Quickly assess bandwidth of other developers and reassign tickets to maintain a solid workflow.
  • Identify tickets which have missing or incomplete information/assets required for completion and work with requesters, stakeholders, or traffic managers to gather what is missing or needed.
  • Support requesters with supplemental information or documentation to complete tickets.
  • Support both day-to-day tickets as well as longer term web development projects.
  • Effectively deliver RUSH requests.
  • Develop rapid static or functional mock-ups.
  • Provide Git Branch Management for the team and other departments.
  • Attend daily web maintenance standup to make sure team is coordinated and any project roadblocks can be addressed.
  • Participate in weekly Code Reviews for Releases.
  • Ensure weekly releases are pushed through QA and prepped for deployment to Production, resolving Merge Conflicts as needed. Prepare weekly Release branches. Review Merge Requests from other developers to ensure code is syntax and error-free, is as efficient as possible and adheres to existing coding conventions and brand/styling guidelines.
  • Coordinate with other interdependent departments/teams to support their Special or Off Releases.
  • Support the development, organization, and upkeep of process documentation for the department or external users.
  • Provide subject matter expertise/guidance on existing systems and capabilities to other departments.
  • Technical Research.
  • Provide weekly reports, write-ups, and hours reporting.
  • Provide UI and UX guidance on select projects.
  • Become an in-house Drupal technical lead and subject matter expert to help guide the company through both short and long-term Drupal implementations.
  • Assess the technical implementation of the tool with forethought given to scalability, long-term maintenance of the Drupal tool itself, ability for growth and enhancements within the tool, and limitations or concessions we may need to accept as part of the switch to Drupal.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or comparable experience
  • 4 years + working on front-end development of web sites or in a web support/maintenance role
  • 4 years + working on responsive web sites
  • Mandatory - HTML/Bootstrap; CSS, LESS; GIT; Node/NPM; Terminal and/or Command Prompt; JSON; Photoshop/Illustrator (Image Optimization and Asset Prep for the Web); JavaScript/jQuery
  • Preferred - Drupal 8+; PHP; SQL/MySQL; WordPress; Handlebars; AngularJS; React/Redux
  • Must be able to hand code (no WYSIWYG editor assistance)
  • Solid knowledge of web-based technologies (JavaScript frameworks, SPAs)
  • Solid knowledge of responsive and cross-device/cross-browser development and QA principles.
  • Expertise in Git with understanding of intermediate to advanced level Git commands required. Must possess ability to manage multiple branches and resolve merge conflicts. Experience with Gitlab a plus.
  • General understanding of SEO best practices and ADA compliance.
  • Basic understanding of FTP.
  • The ability to plan, code, commit, test, review, stage and deploy projects to various environments.
  • Ability to modify existing graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator to export assets in the most appropriate, web optimized, responsive ready format.
  • Strong attention to detail, the willingness to troubleshoot, and the ability to analyze existing code bases.
  • Must be able lead, train and provide guidance to other Developers and/or QA Testers
  • Excellent communication skills.
