An exciting opportunity to be a member of the Finance & Accounting with responsibility for accounting, tax and financial reporting within the Empower. Responsibilities include formulating balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements that are subject to independent audit for the consolidated Company and its subsidiaries, and related supporting documents (financial statement tie-outs) and certain functions related to the month-end close process, including account reconciliations. In addition, responsibilities also include monthly reporting, reporting to regulatory bodies (foreign and domestic) and monitoring minimum regulatory capital requirements for certain subsidiaries. The senior analyst will also assist accounting on a monthly basis to prepare internal management reporting packages, including the supporting documents. Additionally, the role will assist with booking various monthly entries including cash and prepaids. The role includes interaction with other members of Corporate Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tax. Legal and Compliance, and Operations. In addition, the role will assist the Managers and Controller in various projects received from the CFO and the business units. This is a detailoriented position with stringent time deadlines, where time management, the ability to prioritize and multi-task is essential.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting analyses for the consolidated company and its subsidiaries, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Prepare financial statement tie-outs, workpapers, variance analysis, and other supporting documentation for accounting,  financial reporting, regulatory reporting, audit, and other reporting deliverables.
  • Perform account reconciliations and analyze unusual or significant account fluctuations; research and document explanations for variances and resolve identified discrepancies.
  • Identify financial and regulatory reporting issues, unusual transactions, data inconsistencies, and reconciliation differences; research and escalate matters requiring management attention.
  • Prepare monthly internal management reporting packages and analyses highlighting financial results and significant variances.
  • Calculate and monitor regulatory capital requirements for applicable subsidiary companies and prepare required regulatory reporting and filings to domestic and foreign regulatory agencies, including related reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and file applicable Bureau of Economic Analysis surveys.
  • Support annual and interim external audits by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
  • Assist with tax-related analyses, reporting requirements, and special projects.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tax, Legal, Compliance, Operations, business units, and other stakeholders to complete financial reporting and project requirements.
  • Support Managers, the Controller, and CFO with special projects and ad hoc financial analyses.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent field.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, or related experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, STAT, and IFRS accounting bases.
  • Ability to research accounting or regulatory codification and determine appropriate accounting treatment for new or non-routine transactions.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, investigate variances and reconciliation differences, and identify and escalate financial or regulatory reporting issues.
  • Advanced or strong Microsoft Excel skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using SAP. Experience using SAP or a comparable ERP system; SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting controls, reconciliations, and supporting documentation requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet stringent monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with multiple levels of management.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and collaborate effectively within a team.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Financial services industry experience.
  • Experience preparing audited financial statements and supporting external audit requests.
  • Experience with regulatory capital calculations and regulatory financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting accounting or tax matters for multiple legal entities or subsidiaries.
