As a Cybersecurity Data Scientist, you will develop, maintain, and implement comprehensive information security monitoring programs in large and complex environments. You’ll perform comprehensive threat analyses and recommend an appropriate course of action, mitigation, and remediation. Additionally, you will provide consultative guidance on the development of information security strategies and programs through demonstrated expertise and knowledge of industry trends and changes with respect to advanced and sophisticated cyberattacks and threats.
What you will do:
- Perform forensic analysis for fraud-related investigations and support the Fraud Operations/CSI teams in their investigations. Perform advanced analytics on fraud and cyberattack data to identify trends, inform our investigations teams, and lead to the addition of useful detection functionality
- Identify and implement the appropriate infrastructure to support the fraud model detection tool and other custom tools, including the procurement, configuration, and support of the necessary AWS resources
- Based on analysis, design and code the logic used by the fraud model to identify red flag data features and the associated alerting logic
- Design and creation of monitoring, reporting, and alerting capabilities for our systems and tools. Support the cybersecurity and fraud teams with their reporting requirements for both existing business and implement changes to these reporting processes to integrate new data related to business acquisitions
- Perform testing to ensure detection techniques, reporting and fraud model functionality is working as expected
- Conduct data and threat analysis, security risk assessments, evaluating security services, and threat technologies in response to security events and trends
- Assist in SOC operations as needed such as data trending, statistical analysis, incident investigation/mitigation, etc.
- Develop machine learning models to derive cyber insights and threat intelligence
- Develop algorithms and models based on analyst use cases for security log data. Apply anomaly detection techniques to log data
What you will bring:
- 5 years of relevant work experience in data analytics, cybersecurity, fraud detection or related consulting. Experience building custom statistical/machine learning models, and analyzing unstructured data
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative/statistical discipline
- Expert technical competency analyzing large datasets using software such as Python, SAS, and SQL
- Ability to apply a variety of statistical techniques such as regression, machine learning, and cluster analysis. Programming experience in the multiple phases of a complex modelling initiative – data preprocessing, feature engineering, algorithm selection, model training & evaluation, and on-going support of models in production
What will set you apart:
- Experience using AWS Sagemaker, Splunk Machine Learning Toolkit or SAS Viya is preferred
- Experience with log data analytics and anomaly detection algorithms. Experience with data science sampling techniques appropriate for imbalanced class supervised machine learning classification problems
- Experience in database environments such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL
- Polished written and oral communication skills, with ability to present and clearly explain data to non-technical executive audiences. Possess a consultative nature, with proven record of accomplishment using data to provide actionable business results
- Prior exposure to financial services industry

Base Salary Range
$88,200.00 - $124,500.00The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
