The Suspicious Activity Monitoring (SAM) Alert and Sanctions Analyst, assists with the Company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements and guidelines relating to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), USA PATRIOT Act, and other anti-money laundering program requirements. This staff position is responsible for reviewing transactions to identify potential unusual activity, dispositioning alerts in a timely manner and escalating activity that requires further investigation; and reviewing and dispositioning all OFAC sanctions possible matches.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct initial analysis of transactions and customer relationships to identify and disposition SAM alerts and escalate potentially suspicious activity for further investigation by SAR Office Investigators.
- Review and disposition SAM alerts within established SLA.
- Responsible for OFAC and watch list sanctions processes, including the review and dispositioning of OFAC alerts within established SLA.
- Responsible for 314(a) processes, including the review and dispositioning of alerts, reporting matches to FinCEN within regulatory required time periods, and creating Alerts and Cases for further investigation by SAR Office investigators.
- Assist senior staff in researching and responding to regulatory and compliance requests, as needed.
- Interact with the company’s fraud investigation areas for clarity and/or to obtain additional information to ensure timely evaluation of routine potentially suspicious activity.
- Create Unusual Activity Alerts and Cases from certain basic, routine referrals.
- Perform basic and routine SAR Office investigations, including transaction analysis, research, SAR filing decisions and SAR drafting and filing for basic, routine cases.
- Partner with internal contacts as needed to assist in providing oversight of the company’s AML program.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of related work or internship experience preferred.
LICENSING REQUIRED:
FINRA registrations preferred but not required.
OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership/negotiation skills, ability to take ownership of self-professional development, and self-driven toward career goals.
- Multi-dimensional and adaptable team player, able to tackle a diversity of duties while performing non-analyst or silo style roles and solidly demonstrating initiative.
- Self-starter and problem-solver with the ability to deliver results with minimal hands-on guidance.
- Some AML and Fraud detection and investigation experience preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to interface with a variety of colleagues, including associates and senior management alike, are required.
- Exceptional research and analytical skills are required.
- Technology tools that this resource must have experience using: Excel, Word, Outlook, Actimize, internal proprietary systems and third-party vendor systems.
- Previous experience with Actimize a plus.
- Typical office environment.
- Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities with strict deadlines.

Base Salary Range
$54,200.00 - $74,600.00The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
