Accountabilities: 

  • Prepare Canadian income tax compliance in respect our entities, including preparing and reviewing corporate, partnership and trust income tax returns.
  • Prepare Canadian income tax compliance in respect of our foreign affiliates, including preparing and reviewing relevant T1134 and T106 returns.
  • Prepare Canadian tax computations in respect of our foreign affiliates, including preparing annual surplus and adjustment cost base (ACB) computations.
  • Prepare Canadian tax computations in respect of our entities, including preparing and reviewing annual adjustment cost base (ACB) computations.
  • Prepare Canadian standardized reports in respect of our entities, including preparing and reviewing annual tax surveys.
  • Analyze, research and document tax considerations that arose from the preparation and review of the above returns and computations.
  • Assist with document/data management by gathering and storing certain documents/data such as financial statements and legal agreements in standardized SharePoint sites. 
  • Assist with the update and maintenance of end user computing (EUC) lists.
  • Assist with the development, coaching and training of staff members.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • University degree in a business-related field.
  • CPA designation or working towards completion.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Canadian taxation/accounting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple demands and competing priorities to achieve required results.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and also work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Passion for learning and analyzing tax law.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience in SAP, Taxprep, SharePoint and/or Longview Tax is an asset.
