This role would lead global accounting and reporting functions in Bangalore, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong controls, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Based in Bangalore, serve as a key leader in building and scaling a world-class accounting and reporting organization, developing deep technical capabilities across accounting processes, systems, controls, and talent. Support Empower's SAP S/4HANA transformation through successful testing and implementation, process standardization, adoption of leading practices, and continuous process improvement. Provide thought leadership across accounting operations, external reporting, audit, governance, and digital finance capabilities while developing high-performing teams and scalable operating models.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Lead accounting functions like AP, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Insurance, Legal Entity, Revenue, Compensation & Benefits Accounting, and External Reporting.
• Provide leadership and oversight to India-based Accounting & Reporting teams operating within a global matrix organization, partnering with functional leaders to align priorities, clarify accountabilities, manage performance, and ensure effective execution.
• Develop a culture of One Empower, coaching teams to connect across Finance, problem solve, simplify work, and accelerate delivery.
• Partner with global functional leaders to build and expand accounting and reporting capabilities in India, identifying opportunities to increase expertise, ownership, scalability, and value delivered by the organization.
• Establish clear service expectations, performance measures, and governance routines with global functional partners to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery and timely resolution of issues.
• Proactively identify and escalate accounting, reporting, control, operational, and resourcing risks, partnering with appropriate leaders to drive timely resolution.
• Oversee close, reporting, and compliance activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to US GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive SAP S/4HANA adoption, process standardization, and operating model transformation.
• Champion automation, AI, analytics, and digital solutions to improve efficiency, insights, and control effectiveness.
• Enhance accounting quality and close effectiveness through BlackLine and other finance technologies.
• Lead external reporting, technical accounting, audit readiness, and governance initiatives.
• Strengthen internal controls, SOX compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks.
• Establish performance metrics and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Finance, Technology, Risk, Audit, Tax, FP&A, and business leaders on strategic initiatives and organizational change.
• Develop and lead high-performing global teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
• CPA, CA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
• 12-15+ years of accounting leadership experience in large multinational organizations, preferably within insurance, retirement, wealth management, or other regulated financial services environments.
• Proven experience leading and developing managers and senior accounting professionals across multiple disciplines.
• Deep expertise in US GAAP and IFRS, including insurance accounting (IFRS 17/ASC 944), accounting and reporting for financial instruments (IFRS 9 and relevant US GAAP guidance), technical accounting, and regulatory and external reporting requirements.
• Significant experience leading accounting functions such as Insurance Accounting, Legal Entity Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Intercompany Accounting.
• Strong knowledge of audit, SOX, internal controls, SOC 1/SOC 2 reports, and governance frameworks.
• Proven success building, scaling, and leading high-performing global accounting teams within shared services, GCC, or complex operating environments.
• Demonstrated ability to build deep technical capabilities across accounting and reporting processes, systems, controls, and talent to drive sustainable business outcomes.
• Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA, finance transformation, process standardization, and adoption of leading practices.
• Experience leveraging BlackLine, AI, automation, and analytics to improve accounting quality, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
• Strong problem-solving, customer orientation, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of driving transformation and influencing senior leaders.
