The Senior Director of Workplace Planning & Advice leads Empower’s end-to-end advice delivery and participant engagement strategy across all tiers of Workplace Planning & Advice consultants.

This role is accountable for the strategic, operational, and talent outcomes of a growing organization that spans foundational education, core planning, and advanced participant advice. The Senior Director is responsible for asset retention to Empower, participant satisfaction, advice implementation, and internal talent progression, ensuring consistency and excellence across all touchpoints.

What you will do

  • Lead strategy and execution across all levels of Workplace Planning & Advice teams through oversight of multiple Senior Managers
  • Drive enterprise metrics including asset retention, managed account adoption, Wealth referrals, and participant engagement
  • Own lifecycle development strategy from onboarding through advanced planning and high-net-worth (HNW) transitions
  • Set consistent KPIs, advice quality standards, and coaching frameworks across all manager teams
  • Act as principal leader for Empower’s workplace advice model, ensuring regulatory alignment and supervisory oversight
  • Develop campaign strategies, performance management approaches, and technology integration plans in partnership with Product, WPA Experience, Marketing, and Wealth teams.
    Partner cross-functionally to reduce leakage, improve participant outcomes, and support Empower's strategic growth goals
  • Represent Workplace Planning & Advice in enterprise planning, client discussions, and leadership forums
  • Drive cultural cohesion, diversity, and manager pipeline development across the organization
  • Ensure consistent audit practices, licensing standards, and regulatory supervision through all leadership levels

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 required
  • FINRA fingerprinting required
  • 7+ years of experience in retirement services, advice leadership, or participant strategy
  • 3+ years of experience leading multi-team, multi-function environments with direct accountability for people, performance, and revenue
  • Proven experience in campaign management, advice platform integration, or advisory services development
  • Strong analytical, executive communication, and people leadership skills
  • Business owner mindset: accountable for financial outcomes, strategic delivery, and cross-functional execution
  • Culture carrier: builds strong, inclusive teams and a coaching-driven environment
  • Talent developer: builds clear growth paths, succession plans, and development opportunities
  • Advice leader: understands planning depth, suitability supervision, and participant engagement nuances
  • Innovator and optimizer: challenges the status quo to improve processes, scale impact, and deliver better outcomes

What Will Set You Apart

  • MBA or Master’s preferred
  • CRPC/CFP desirable
  • Demonstrated success developing leadership pipelines, succession strategies, and high-performing teams within a large, complex financial services organization
  • Leadership experience within workplace retirement, wealth management, financial planning, or participant advisory services
  • Experience leading a large, multi-level organization through people managers
  • Experience scaling or transforming financial advice delivery through technology, process optimization, or innovative participant engagement strategies

Base Salary Range

$144,900.00 - $210,075.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
