The Director Technology Risk will lead a team responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with machine learning and generative AI technologies. This role partners across engineering, data science, security, legal, compliance, second-line risk, and business functions to help ensure AI-driven solutions are developed and operated in a safe, ethical, and compliant manner. The Director provides independent risk oversight, challenges technical decisions, and translates complex risks into actionable insights for senior leadership and governance forums.
What you will do:
- Lead and manage a team of technology risk professionals responsible for oversight of AI/ML and emerging technology risks.
- Establish and maintain risk governance frameworks, standards, and controls for generative AI and machine learning solutions.
- Provide independent risk review and effective challenge across the AI/ML lifecycle, including model design, development, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Partner with data science, engineering, and business teams to embed risk controls throughout the AI/ML lifecycle.
- Oversee risk assessments, control testing, issue management, and remediation activities related to AI and advanced analytics.
- Evaluate and manage third-party and vendor risks associated with AI platforms, tools, and data sources.
- Translate complex technical and model risks into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders and governance forums.
- Monitor and interpret emerging regulatory guidance, industry standards, and best practices related to AI and model risk management.
- Prepare and present risk reporting, metrics, and recommendations to senior leadership and risk committees.
- Exercise decision-making authority related to technology and AI/ML risk assessments, control recommendations, and issue escalation.
- Apply independent judgment in interpreting and applying risk frameworks.
- Approve risk positions, remediation plans, and risk acceptances within defined authority thresholds.
- Provide direct supervision of senior analysts and analysts, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and development.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of advanced education.
- 9 to 12 years of progressive experience, including 6+ years in a management role.
- Strong people leadership, coaching, and talent development capabilities.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, including large language models, model training, validation, and deployment.
- Knowledge of Responsible AI principles, model risk management, and data governance practices.
- Ability to assess and challenge complex technical risks using sound judgment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, rapidly evolving technology environments.

Base Salary Range
$125,400.00 - $181,875.00The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
