The Head of Brand Marketing is responsible for building and scaling a nationally recognizable brand with a clear and compelling value proposition, supporting Empower’s ambition to build lifelong financial relationships with customers.

This leader owns brand strategy and expression, paid media, sponsorships and partnerships, and the in-house creative agency. They serve as the enterprise brand steward, ensuring the brand is expressed consistently and powerfully across all customer touchpoints.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role is a key member of the Marketing Leadership team, leads a 50+ person brand and creative organization and plays a central role in driving sustainable brand growth in support of enterprise objectives.

What You Will Lead

Brand Strategy & Stewardship

  • Evolve and operationalize Empower’s brand positioning in partnership with executive leadership.`
  • Translate brand strategy into compelling creative expressions across campaigns, experiences, and channels.
  • Establish enterprise brand standards, governance, and scalable toolkits that ensure consistency across the organization.

Paid Media & Integrated Campaigns

  • Create and lead enterprise-wide annual marketing planning process, stitching together all marketing efforts driving our brand and revenue.
  • Lead creative strategies across paid media including TV, digital, social, display, and emerging platforms.
  • Leads creative agency and media agency to propel the brand with measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure campaigns reinforce the enterprise narrative and deliver continuous improvement through testing and optimization.

Sponsorships & Brand Activation

  • Lead strategy and activation for sponsorships and partnerships, including sports marketing assets.
  • Integrate sponsorship storytelling across paid, owned, and earned channels.
  • Establish clear performance metrics tied to brand growth and enterprise impact.

Creative Organization

  • Lead and develop a high-performing in-house creative team spanning video, digital, print, and content.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Optimize agency partnerships and ensure disciplined stewardship of brand investment.

Enterprise Partnership

  • Partner closely with Brand Communications to align brand voice and brand expression across paid, owned, and earned media.
  • Collaborate with Consumer Marketing and Workplace Marketing to ensure the brand drives engagement across B2C and B2B audiences.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, and Analytics to ensure brand strategy translates into measurable business outcomes.

What you will bring

  • 15+ years of progressive marketing leadership across brand strategy, paid media, and integrated campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate brand strategy into impactful marketing execution.
  • Experience leading creative teams and managing agency ecosystems.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership across marketing, communications, product, and enterprise stakeholders.
  • Financial services experience preferred but not required.
  • FINRA fingerprinting required.

Base Salary Range

$215,000.00 - $311,750.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
