The Senior Retirement Consultant - Government delivers personalized consultations detailing solutions best suited to the retirement planning needs of Empower customers in Government employer-sponsored plans. It encompasses all services that support first dollar in to last dollar out solutions for participants – including distributions into or out of plans, saving, investing, consolidating, and investing in additional products or services based on the participant’s needs. Will be held accountable for meeting monthly and annual sales goals. Responsibilities include both inbound and outbound calls and require excellent follow-through with those they are assisting.

What you will do

  • Cultivate relationships with customers by delivering personalized service and respond to a variety of plan and policy-related questions by exhibiting listening, patience, empathy, authenticity, proactivity, and perseverance with external and internal customers
  • Gain and employ expert knowledge about government/457 plan rules, processes, and procedures
  • Provide education and point in time advice on topics to help a retirement plan participant become best prepared for retirement, including: rollover into plan options, optimized investment allocation and savings amounts, distribution options and additional products/solutions aligned with the customer’s needs.
  • Answer and respond appropriately to operational and procedural inquiries from current retirement plan participants via inbound/outbound calls in-order to identify and/or close a sales opportunity
  • Initiate proactive/follow-up phone calls on behalf of the participant to current or prior provider to begin the necessary paperwork to transfer money into or out of Empower products
  • Retain assets through education and guidance of available plan specific and general distribution options
  • Engage in dialogue which successfully educates customers in making informed distribution decisions and the advantages of participation in a company sponsored retirement plan or an individual retirement account versus the tax implications of taking receipt of the proceeds from their retirement investments
  • Demonstrate appropriate insight and judgment to resolve issues/problems through education/advice on appropriate solutions
  • Update and maintain account history and daily activity records based on participant calls in order to develop/track future consultation opportunities
  • Track and monitor the success rate and overall customer satisfaction through the sales process
  • Partner with the designated Participant Service Center team to provide a seamless engagement with participants and ensure timely resolution of issues and questions

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional work experience
  • Demonstrated success in sales
  • FINRA 7 & 63 registrations required
  • FINRA fingerprinting required

What will set you apart

  • Good working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), and various file manipulation skills on a PC
  • Ability to quickly learn Empower’s recordkeeping system, Salesforce software
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and ability to handle stressful situations and people on a daily basis
  • Sound written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong consulting skills
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn new information quickly and independently
  • Good understanding of IRAs, retirement investment products/services, and the retirement plan environment

Base Salary Range

$52,500.00 - $68,250.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
