This role leads the suite of services provided by Empower Advisory Group, LLC (EAG), a registered investment adviser, which includes My Total Retirement & Online Advice (MTR), Professional Management Program & Online Advice (PMP), Dynamic Retirement Manager (DRM), and the operational services white labeled with advisor firm partners in the form of Advisor Managed Accounts (AMA).

These managed accounts represent over $850 billion in assets under supervision and are a critical component of Empower’s growth strategy.


What you will do:

  • Own the overall vision, strategy, and P&L of the managed account solutions, and owner of business strategy and plan to drive increased value for customers and the firm.
  • Lead a high-performing team to optimize and service existing products, while designing and building the future of advice for Empower; focused on delivering measurable results for our customers and business.
  • Expand distribution channels and Advisory partner relationships to achieve aggressive multi-year growth goals in partnership with segment leadership teams. This includes a strategic focus on advisor managed account opportunities in a way that increases new sales and creates scale.
  • Clearly define the value proposition of the EAG offer, leveraging data and analytics to demonstrate the importance of advice in a robust portfolio, thereby removing friction in the adoption process.
  • Responsible for oversight of operational and regulatory components of managed account service delivery, both at the institutional and individual level, including implementation of new plans.  
  • The incumbent will have a broad set of responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
    • Influence and create alignment with senior leaders across the organization on the strategic direction of EAG and requirements from each function to enable success. Prepare and deliver business reviews to senior management and the Board of Directors.
    • Manage and direct the evolution of key vendor relationships with two independent fiduciary entities critical to the delivery of participant investment advisory services.
    • Directly engage as a senior leader, supporting strategic partner meetings, presentations at industry conferences, and client pitches.
    • Conduct research and competitive analyses to support strategic planning and ensure the overall competitiveness of the managed accounts products and services. This is coupled with ongoing monitoring of book of business performance and future pipeline opportunity.
    • Oversight of product management processes and focus (in partnership with EPW) to ensure digital experience seamlessly guides individuals to drive adoption and support servicing needs.   
    • Oversee the technical team responsible for product creation and coordinate with technology and the broader Product organization to deliver novel capabilities and functionality.
    • Directly and indirectly lead the team responsible for all elements of plan sponsor client management and service, including goal setting, reporting, product implementation, and participant campaign management.
    • Ongoing focus on talent development, retention, and acquisition required to maintain an innovative organization driving growth.
    • Ensure the organization’s adherence to the highest professional standards along with all applicable compliance and regulatory requirements, including the management of a specific compliance oversight regime across the group’s activities.

What you will bring:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the retirement industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the managed accounts industry, including customers, regulatory environment, products, and competitors.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Defined Contribution market.
  • Demonstrated senior leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, particularly in driving change management to accomplish aggressive goals in a complex environment.
  • A visionary who can set and execute on a strategy, and an innovative thinker that acts with agility to react to changing market needs.
  • Superior people-leadership skills with demonstrated experience in talent and team development, and consistent ability to attract and retain top talent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, marketing or other business field required.
  • Series 65 registrations required within corporate-established timelines.
  • FINRA fingerprinting required.

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFA (Certified Financial Advisor), MBA, and/or CFP (Certified Financial Planner) preferred.

Base Salary Range

$210,800.00 - $305,675.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
