The Director of Enterprise Release Management is responsible for defining, leading, and scaling the enterprise-wide release management capability across all technology platforms and portfolios. This role establishes the strategy, governance, and operating model required to deliver software changes in a controlled, predictable, and risk-aware manner at scale.
The Director serves as the enterprise authority for release management, ensuring alignment across Development, Infrastructure, Security, Change Management, and Business stakeholders. This role is accountable for reducing release-related risk, improving release quality, and enabling consistent delivery through standardized processes, governance, and continuous improvement.
What you will do:
- This leader will establish a centralized enterprise release management function that enables consistent, scalable, and risk-aware delivery across all technology portfolios.
- Define and implement the enterprise release management strategy, operating model, and governance framework.
- Establish standardized processes, workflows, RACI, and release controls to ensure consistency across teams and platforms.
- Develop and manage an integrated enterprise release calendar, coordinating dependencies across applications, infrastructure, and shared services.
- Drive alignment between release management, change management, support and delivery teams.
- Establish release KPIs and performance frameworks to measure success.
- Provide oversight and coordination for complex, high-risk, and cross-functional releases.
- Identify and mitigate release risks, ensuring appropriate controls, rollback strategies, and readiness criteria are in place.
- Partner with Change Management to strengthen governance, including CAB effectiveness and decision-making.
- Improve release execution by standardizing processes, reducing manual effort, and increasing automation in partnership with DevOps and engineering teams.
- Provide executive-level reporting and insights on release performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing release management team, including defining roles, staffing models, and on-call coverage.
- Drive continuous improvement through post-release reviews, lessons learned, and process optimization.
What you will bring:
- 10+ years of experience in Release Management, Change Management, DevOps, or IT Operations
- 5+ years of experience leading teams or enterprise-level functions
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, Engineering or related field or equivalent expereince.
- Proven experience building or scaling enterprise release management or similar operational capabilities
- Experience operating in large, complex environments with multiple applications, platforms, and stakeholders
- Deep knowledge of ITIL Change and Release Management processes
- Experience coordinating large-scale, cross-functional releases across multiple portfolios
- Strong understanding of infrastructure and application ecosystems, including cloud, network, and middleware
- Experience with tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or similar platforms
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to both technical and executive audiences
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Ability to balance speed, risk, and quality in decision-making

Base Salary Range
$125,400.00 - $181,875.00The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
