An Architect within the technology organization will provide thought leadership and direction in aligning projects and solutions to a technology vision they will help evolve. This role works closely with business partners and technology leadership in the assessment of business initiatives and their impact on current technology, modernization efforts and change management. The role will entail developing technology strategies, reference architectures, solutions, best practices and guidance across the entire IT development organization; with particular focus on total cost of ownership, stability, scale and performance
.
In this rapid paced environment, the person must possess a "can-do" attitude while demonstrating a strong work ethic. This person should have a strong aptitude to help drive decisions. He or she will be actively involved in influencing the strategic direction of technology at Empower Retirement and Great West Financial. There will be collaboration across teams including IT Infrastructure, PMO office, Business, and third-party integrators in reviewing, evaluating, designing and implementing solutions.
The Architect must understand the available technology options and educate and influence technology teams to leverage them where appropriate. The Architect will recognize and propose alternatives, make recommendations, and describe any necessary trade-offs. In most cases, the Architect will lead the design and implementation of end-to-end solutions directly with the development teams.
The ideal candidate will leverage their technical aptitude and direction-setting skills with the development organization to prove out technical concepts quickly using a variety of tools, methods, & frameworks.
What you will do:
Technology Strategy: define and drive the technology strategy for digital experiences across our customer and employee touchpoints.
Architecting Solutions: design the architecture for web portals, mobile apps, and other digital touchpoints.
Financial Data Integration: integrate various financial data sources into a unified dashboard.
Data-Driven Experiences: utilize data analytics to drive personalized insights and recommendations, enhancing user experience.
Stakeholder Collaboration: work with diverse user groups to gather requirements and provide tailored solutions.
Team Influence: influence and guide teams responsible for building digital touchpoints, ensuring alignment with the technology strategy.
Design Thinking: Conduct and leverage research, personas, and journey aps to architect experiences that are intuitive, accessible, and value driven.
Proof of Concepts (POCs): conduct POCs to evaluate and recommend technology solutions.
Security and Compliance: ensure data privacy and protection, adhering to industry standards.
What you will bring:
5+ years of experience in the development and delivery of software systems with the following technologies:Java (Spring, SpringBoot), Web Services (JSON/XML), RESTful architectures, AWS API Gateway, Lambda, Python, and Node.
3+ years of experience creating solution architectures, frameworks and strategies across multiple architecture domains (business, application, data, integration, infrastructure and security).
Solid experience with one or more of the following technology disciplines: SOA & Microservices design, Cloud Architectures (AWS and multi-cloud),Advanced Programming, Modern Integration Methods (API Gateway/Web Services, Messaging & RESTful architectures), NoSQL
Have experience of high throughput high concurrency distributed systems to meet latency in single digit milli-seconds with 4 9s (99.99) availability and performance tuning..
Experienced in modern deployment models and tools like : Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines, Github/Gitlab/BitBucket, DevOps, BPM, Machine learning, AI model architecture/principals/practices
Working knowledge of addressing architectural cross cutting concerns and their tradeoffs, including topics such as caching, monitoring, operational surround, high availability, security, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Information Systems, Mathematics, Software Engineering)

Base Salary Range
$111,800.00 - $162,125.00The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
